Located on China’s central eastern coast at the mouth of the Yangtze River, Shanghai is the largest city and also the most developed and modern city in China.
Originally, it was a fishing and textiles town. Due to its favorable port location, it gradually became a multinational hub of finance and business by the 1930s. In 2005, it became the world’s largest cargo port.
Shanghai has a wide variety of impressive sights. It has historical landmarks such as the Bund and City God Temple, its modern and ever-expanding Pudong skyline including the Oriental Pearl Tower, etc. The magnificent Yuyuan Garden is one of the most beautiful gardens in all of Asia, its classic, refined architecture and landscaping provide a feeling of simplicity and grandeur at the same time. Nanjing Road was once a synonym for prosperity and modernism.
